Who we are

Lorem Genius is built and operated by Dulanga Sashika, an individual trading as Ashika Labs. Ashika Labs is a trading name rather than a registered company, so the data controller for the information described in this policy is Dulanga Sashika personally. This policy explains what we collect when you visit loremgenius.com, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and what rights you have over it. You can contact us with any question about it.

The generator itself

All placeholder text is generated in your browser. The text you generate is never sent to our servers, never stored, and never seen by us.

When you generate text, the site increments a public counter of total generations across all visitors. That request records nothing about you or about what you generated - only that the counter went up by one.

Information you give us

If you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address, subject, and message you submit, so that we can reply. If you use the feedback widget, we collect your rating and any comment you write; the feedback form does not ask for your name or email.

Both are stored in a database hosted by Supabase, which processes the data on our behalf. We keep contact messages for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for up to 24 months afterwards, and feedback for up to 24 months. We do not use either to send you marketing, and we do not sell or rent this information to anyone.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes standard server request data - including your IP address, browser user agent, and the pages you request - as part of delivering the site and protecting it from abuse.

We also use your IP address transiently to rate-limit requests to the generation counter, which stops a single visitor inflating it. This check happens in memory, is discarded when the server restarts, and is not written to any database or linked to anything else about you.

Cookies and local storage

We store two things in your browser's local storage: your theme preference (light or dark) and your cookie choice. These stay on your device, are not transmitted to us, and are necessary for the site to remember your settings.

Beyond that, this site uses analytics and advertising cookies, which are not strictly necessary. These are handled separately, because they are governed by different rules.

Analytics. Google Analytics is loaded only after you accept on the banner. If you decline, or have not chosen yet, it is not loaded and it sets no cookies. You can change this choice at any time using the link below.

Advertising. Advertising is handled by Google's own consent management platform rather than by our banner, because Google's policy for publishers requires a platform it has certified. If you are in the EEA or the UK, that platform asks for your choice separately and passes it to Google, which then serves either personalised or non-personalised ads accordingly. The next section covers what that involves.

We also use Vercel Analytics, which measures page views without cookies and without building a profile of individual visitors.

Advertising

Lorem Genius displays advertisements served by third-party vendors, including Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and may collect data such as your IP address, device information, and interactions with ads.

Where consent is legally required, it is collected through a Google-certified consent management platform before personalised advertising cookies are set. Declining does not remove the ads; it means they are not personalised to you.

Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by its own policies. You can review how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You may opt out of personalised advertising at Google My Ad Center, and out of some other vendors' personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.

Who your data is shared with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run the site:

• Vercel - hosting and cookieless analytics
• Supabase - database for contact messages and feedback
• Google - Analytics (only with your consent) and AdSense advertising

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place.

If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal basis is your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site for server logs and rate limiting. Where you contact us, the basis is our legitimate interest in responding to you. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Data security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the information we process against loss and unauthorised access, use, or disclosure. All traffic to this site is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised date at the top. If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we will make that clear rather than relying on the date alone.
